CEREMONY: Thanksgiving Show 2015

This Thanksgiving, Harvey Art Projects is proud to present CEREMONY, an exhibition featuring selected works from past curated exhibitions as well as works by our newest Australian art center representation in the USA, Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra / Many Hands Art Center.

Ngurratjuta is an aboriginal owned and governed art center located in Alice Springs amongst the arid Central Australian desert. They have a special focus on encouraging the artists of the 'Hermannsburg School'. These watercolor artists paint in the tradition of Albert Namatjira, who painted in the 20th century and was renowned for his unique style of painting the local landscape in Western-style watercolors. By continuing his legacy, these artists sustain an important piece of living history.

This wide variety of mens and womens paintings each show their strong connection to Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) by depicting ceremonial & cultural practices.
